'Weekly Word' Blog Kickoff!

Updated: Aug 18, 2019

Welcome to the abmbworkouts.com first official blog post! This has been my go to verse so I figured it would be very appropriate to kick off my Weekly Word with it. Going forward, the Weekly Word will be submitted every single Sunday evening at 7 pm to set the tone for the upcoming week! Feel free to access it at anytime once it’s posted. In my humble opinion, It’s always a good time to reflect on the source, so it’s no rush if you aren’t able to get to it right away :)

The Weekly Word will include 3 elements.

1. My ‘Why’ behind the Verse chosen

2. How it relates to me personally throughout life in general and an exercising stand point.

3. An option for YOU to reflect in the same way I do whether you want to speak on both life and exercise or life by itself. The choice is always yours!

The ‘Why’ behind this weeks Verse:

You may be pursuing entrepreneurship, the corporate route, academia or any combination of those. You may feel like you’re on the right path or you may feel unsure of your exact calling at the moment but it's two things that create a common ground for us, we all have our trials and tribulations. This Verse leads us to the source of it all, the One we go through to communicate with the Creator. Our security is when we love Him we always know it’s working in our favor so for the times where we can’t see it, this verse explains how you will get carried through the good and what seems to be the momentarily “not so good”.

How It Relates to My Life:

I can remember ever since I was a young child , my father use to make me say ‘I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me’ every morning before I got on with my day to elementary school. At first when I said it I just thought of it as something I was supposed to say. As life went on I found out it was something I needed to not just recite, but to live! Back before I became a full time entrepreneur I worked many in and out jobs , one of which was a credit union at the age of 18. When I first worked at the credit union I remember being thankful but in all honesty disappointed because I felt as though I had failed to pursue entrepreneurship due to the fact I tried self- employment as an insurance agent and it got me nowhere I wanted simply because I wasn’t passionate about it / I felt like I needed something different. I recall sitting by the front counter and quietly saying to myself, “You failed man”. What I didn’t know was God had one of the most powerful experiences in my life coming for me. As I stood one random week day, performing my duties as a teller , a gentleman walked in and pointed at different workers to say “Jesus Loves You” , He pointed to a few others before pausing to look at me. After he looked at me he stopped and said “You must be new here. What’s your name?” I briefly told him “Avante”. He responded “Avante...Jesus Loves You, is it okay if I say that to you each time I walk in?”, I granted him permission without any hesitation. As time went on he would say that to me each shift I seen him during the work week. That constant battle of feeling like I came short of being a true entrepreneur was still bottled up inside of me. In the not so distant future, something else happened with this gentleman. One Sunday , I had to miss out on a family occasion because of being scheduled to work from opening until closing. I didn’t have my own car yet so I had no ride that day therefore I decided to take the mile and a half walk to get to work. Later on, as I left work that day I still had that empty feeling of failure to the point that I felt stuck in life. With no ride home I prepared for my walk by changing out of my dress shoes , throwing my walking sneakers on then putting in my earbuds to enjoy music for the hike back. While walking with my earbuds in I look up and that same man just so happened to be randomly walking by me half way through my trip , he looks up, points at me with a smile on his face and says “Jesus Loves You”. That’s literally all he said as he continued to walk past me. What still trips me up until this day is that I never seen him around in my life until I began working there and that particular day I managed to see Him in the neighborhood outside of the workplace. Fast forward to about two months later I wound up leaving that Job to pursue my next endeavor, I boldly quit the job and began to regret/ wonder if I made the right decision but as I sat in the office someone walked by and whispered “Jesus”, although they were saying it to themselves they had no idea God had them saying it for me. I see that as a clear symbol that Jesus was letting me know He was with me every step of the way until I made it to the point of owning my own business on His time! He reminded me that He gave me the strength to make it through and God's Word is the truth so it’s no reason why He won’t do the same for you.

How It Relates to My Workouts:

Before that last rep , last set or even before I begin my workout for the day I always look to call on Jesus throughout it all. I even recall just a couple weeks back when I was doing a super tough exercise called weighted sled pushes I told my brother who was filming me that “I gotta Philippians 4:13 this jawn” lol

Thanks for reading & I’m looking forward to seeing your thoughts / reflection on how this Verse directly impacts you currently or impacted you in the past. So, be sure to reply below !
